Indian government discusses strategy to increase coal production and supply

According to foreign media reports, on September 12, India's Federal Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi chaired a meeting of senior officials of the department to discuss ways to increase domestic coal production and supply.
Joshi said that in order to formulate a coal production and supply strategy in the coming months, the meeting with the Ministry of coal officials to review ways to further increase the coal dispatch of thermal power plants.
"In the past year, coal stocks and coal in transit have increased by 39 per cent, thus ensuring sufficient coal supply in India." Joshi said.
In the second quarter of this fiscal year (July to September 10), India's coal supply to the power sector increased by more than 10% year-on-year, and the government is committed to meeting the coal demand of various industries.
India's official data show that since the fiscal year (April-August), India's power sector coal supply was 324.5 million tons, up 6% from 306.7 million tons in the same period last year
