Australia Hemskik tin mine resources increase
2023 09/22
After several years of successful exploration, Stellar Resources has significantly expanded its Heemskirk tin deposit in Tasmania, Australia, which it believes is the highest grade undeveloped tin deposit in Australia and the third highest grade tin deposit in the world.
At present, the ore resources of Hemskik Tin mine are 3.52 million tons, with a grade of 1.05%, that is, the amount of tin gold is 36,991 tons, an increase of 24% over the previous estimate.
If the lower grade St Dizier deposit is included, the resource rises to 45,271 tonnes.
Since the completion of the preliminary study in 2019, the project's presumptive resources have grown by 58 percent. However, due to the removal of resources from the Oonah deposit, the total ore resources decreased by 5% to 7.48 million tons, with 1.04% tin grade and 77,872 tons of metal. The Queen Hill deposit cannot compensate for the Onach deposit.
The removal of the 5,382 mt Onach resource was primarily due to the mine's distance from the Heimskik deposit, its high yellow tin content, and the disappointing results of two Wells drilled in 2021.
The two-phase supplementary infinfective drilling at the Severn deposit has deepened the understanding of mineralization and the company is eager to complete the pre-feasibility study by the end of the year.
The project is located in Zeehan, about 20 km from the long-producing Renison tin mine.
